“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:18-19a (NIV)
As summer fades and the new school year begins, it’s easy to get caught up in the anxiety of what’s to come. The pressures of school, meeting new people, and facing new challenges can feel overwhelming. But the beginning of something new doesn’t have to be scary. In fact, it can be an opportunity to experience growth, learn something fresh, and discover more about who you are meant to be.
The Bible encourages us not to dwell on the past, but to look forward to the new things God is doing in our lives. Every new school year is a chance to start again, to make better choices, and to draw closer to God. You might not know what this year will bring, but you can trust that God is already there, preparing the way for you.
Sometimes, change can feel uncomfortable because it’s unknown. But it’s in these moments that we grow the most. Think of it like a seed planted in the ground. It doesn’t stay the same; it grows roots, breaks through the soil, and reaches toward the sun. In the same way, the challenges and changes you face this school year are helping you grow, even if it’s hard to see right now.
Remember that God is with you in every situation, every class, and every conversation. When you feel nervous or unsure, take a moment to pray and ask God for strength and guidance. He promises to be with you always, guiding you and giving you peace, no matter what lies ahead.
As you enter this new school year, embrace it with an open heart and a willing spirit. Trust that God has great things in store for you, and be willing to step out in faith. The best is yet to come, and with God by your side, you can face anything that comes your way.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the new opportunities and experiences this school year brings. Help me to trust you in the midst of change and to face each day with courage. Guide my steps, give me strength, and remind me that you are always with me. I pray for wisdom, peace, and a heart that is open to all the new things you are doing in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
