“for today in the city of David, there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11 NASB).
God is good and He has created a good world for us to live in. The problem with our world is the problem and effect of sin. God has not and does not tempt us with sin. From His mercy and grace, He offers us a solution. Throughout human history, God teaches and warns us about ignoring His principles. He has given the Law in the Old Testament to help us live in peace with each other and to remember Him. Then He has given us the great prophets of old to tell us what we should do, how we should listen to God. However, the pattern of humankind has been to ignore God’s word.
Then, in His great mercy and grace, He sends to each of us the one gift that we all truly need: a Savior, His Son, Christ Jesus. This is the gift that many do not want but that all desperately need. For us to begin to appreciate what the Christmas season is all about, we must receive the wonderful gift that is only offered by Him: the gift of salvation.
When the angel told the shepherds about the Savior, they must have wondered if it was true. They had to see for themselves. When they found Jesus, they had to share their story and tell about their experience. When we find Jesus, we must also tell someone about it. The gift of salvation is a great gift to receive, but also a great gift to tell someone else about our experience. So, they too will have the opportunity to receive a great gift. May God bless your Christmas this year!
