I make things cold for a living. I design and price refrigeration systems. I have cooled Convenience Stores, WI boxes, Farmer’s Markets, Grocery Stores, Cold Storage Facilities, Pharmaceutical Plants, and Food Processing Plants.
My father was a John Deere mechanic for 40 years. One day when I was a teenager, I said about adding cooling to something, and my father in his few words said, “You don’t add cooling, you remove heat.” That has stayed with me. What I really do for a living is design systems that transfer heat.
The Bible also talks about transferring heat.
Rev 3: 15-16 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other. So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold- I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
Hot is useful for cooking food. Cold is good for keeping food stable. Lukewarm spoils food.
Lukewarm has been the best description for the church in America during my lifetime. But I believe change is happening.
As I write this devotional, The spontaneous Asbury College revival is going on round the clock for many days. One person visited the revival, planning to stay for an hour to see what was happening, but once they got there, they did not want to leave. There was an overwhelming sense of peace, love, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. This is spreading to many other colleges. Some of them are large, well known secular campuses. Praise the Lord. He is moving in the very place where Satan has been brain washing hundreds of thousands of our young adults for a very long time. My heart has been going out to this generation that is lied to through education and every piece of information is filtered to remove the truth of the gospel and manipulated to one of Satan’s many lies. Praise the Lord, that He cares for this generation more than I do.
What makes us hot? The Holy Spirit and our love for Jesus makes us hot. We show our love for Jesus by obeying his commands and being led by his Spirit.
What makes us lukewarm? Forgetting our first love. Allowing false, woke teaching into the church, and not removing it based on the biblical teaching, has been transferring heat and making the church lukewarm.
Isaiah 43:19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Praise the Lord for doing new things in our time. He is filtering the church in America and calling it back to obedience. He is moving on campuses and calling a new generation. He is preparing for His second coming.
Are you ready for God to do a new thing; to take you out of your comfort zone?
In my job I transfer heat and make things colder. God transfers heat to warm our hearts to His Spirit.
