Two years ago, after a school retreat, my wife wanted to get a puppy. My response was no, no. She kept saying yes, yes, and before you know it, we had a puppy. We had some outdoor dogs when the kids were growing up, but this was the first time we had a dog in the house. The dog changed our lives in ways I did not expect. We walk a lot more than we used to. We got to know neighbors that we never met before.

This summer, we had a new experience for us. We had puppies. We decided to breed our dog and figured that somewhere around the 4th of July we could expect some puppies. It was a busy holiday weekend, but on Sunday, July 5th, we were able to relax and take a nap after church. I woke up before my wife and heard some unusual noise from our dog. I went to her, and there was a puppy just born and still in its sack. I broke the sack, and the puppy came to life. I woke my wife for her to see the new puppy. Over the next couple of hours, we had six little brown puppies.

I know puppies are a common occurrence, but the entire process is a miracle to me. Those little puppies started to nurse a few minutes after they were born. Our dog, being not much more than a puppy herself, knew exactly what to do with these six little puppies. She cared for them, fed them, and cleaned up after them. In 5 days, the puppies doubled their weight. In four weeks, they got up on their legs and started to walk instead of crawling. Pretty soon they all had their own little personalities. I don’t know how anyone could believe this is because of evolution and not from a creator.

Psalms 139:14(NIV) “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.” God is not just our creator, but he is our Savior. New life is more than just here on earth. We have a promise of something even better.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17(NIV), we read: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

We serve an awesome God; his creation is wonderful. He provides new life here on earth and for eternity with Jesus. If we look around, he gives us little reminders for us to praise him. Like six little puppies.
