The CBC Executive Board met by Zoom on April 1 (no fooling 😊). In the opening prayer, Bro. Stafford Frederick thanked God for the privilege of sharing His Good News with others and prayed for the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to descend upon the church. He also invited God’s guidance and wisdom for the meeting. The Minutes of the February meeting were approved, and the Treasurer’s Report was shared, discussed, and approved.
Bro. Scott Kinnick reported that, despite the destruction of the Gethsemane CBC church building in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the congregation is rebuilding, and the walls are already up. He reported that some of the women were going through the ashes to find nails to be reused. He also reported that overall, CBC congregations in Africa are doing very well, and he believes there may soon be some peace talks underway in the DRC. Pray for that to happen sooner rather than later.
Bro Grover shared about his exciting experience of participating in the presentation of Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes in the Dominican Republic. He called it one of the greatest experiences of his Christian life and described the incredible joy of the recipients. The Board agreed that one of the best things CBC ever did was to partner with Samaritan’s Purse. They continue to help with recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene and recently made a sizeable donation to a local church near Bro Jeremy Dykes for their rebuild.
Another highlight of this meeting was to receive the Pleasant Ridge congregation in PA and Iglesia Misionera Fuente Inagotable congregation in Venezuela into the CBC family. The Board also approved ordination for one minister and the licensing of three others. Praise God for continuing to raise up congregations and leaders! Total CBC Congregations are now 181! The Executive Board also approved the payment for governmental registration fees for CBC in the Dominican Republic.
Updates were also shared about this year’s Annual Meeting and Worship Conference, which will be held July 17-19 in Greensboro, NC. The registration fee was set, and other details finalized. It will be a great opportunity to glorify God together and share fellowship with others of like precious faith. The Board also approved nominees for openings on the Executive Board for the election to be held at the AMWC. Registration information has been sent out, so make your reservations early for an exciting worship time together!
Bro Scott shared that the Church Planting committee had met, and the Board approved their recommendation for $2,500 to purchase property in Tanzania that will be that nation’s CBC headquarters. The Board also approved another recommendation to send $1,000 to Pastor Samson in Rwanda to plant more churches. He reported that a new church plant in TN is doing well. Please pray for Bro Scott as he travels to Panama April 25-28 to preach and meet with church leaders there.
Following updates on congregational visits by Board members, the next meeting date was confirmed for May 2-3 in person at the denominational offices in Fairmont, WV. Bro Jeremy closed the meeting with prayer, thanking God for all He is doing through CBC and for His blessing in the meeting. Please continue to pray for God to guide your CBC Executive Board to do God’s will on earth, even as it is done in heaven.
Respectfully Submitted: George Bowers, CBC Executive Board Secretary
