The Executive Board of the Covenant Brethren Church met in person at denominational headquarters in Fairmont, WV, on May 2 and 3 and processed much business.  Other than worship and prayer, the highlight of the meetings was the addition of a new congregation: Beaver Creek in Floyd, VA.  The Board also approved four ministers for ordination and licensed another for a total of 205 credentialed ministers! The Board also welcomed three new individual members.

The Board also heard and approved the Secretary’s minutes from the April meeting and the current treasurer’s report.  The Board also heard and approved reports from various committees, CBC regions, and church visits.  It was exciting to see and hear all that God is doing throughout the many congregations and members of the Covenant Brethren Church!

Plans for the upcoming 2025 Annual Meeting and Worship Conference (AMWC) were also shared, including updates about the theme, Bible Study leaders, pre-conference sessions, and orders of the day.  Plans to implement a Sister-to-Sister Church partnership and a CBC Anniversary Sunday were shared, and both will be presented at the AMWC.  Many other details concerning the AMWC were shared, and the Board is excited to hear keynote speakers Bros. Will Graham and Craig Alan Myers.  If you haven’t yet registered for this year’s event, go to https://covenantbrethren.org/amwc/ to do so!

Bro. Scott Kinnick summarized his recent trip to Panama with exciting details of how God is moving in that country!  CBC looks forward to likely welcoming some new congregations from there soon.  He also shared updates on CBC congregations in Africa and how God continues to move mightily on that continent.  The Board approved funding for some food needs in Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and also approved the purchase of various items to meet audio-visual needs for the AMWC.

As the meetings drew to a close on Saturday afternoon, retiring Board member, Bro. Craig Alan Myers offered some insights regarding his time serving since CBC’s founding.  He observed how God has done exceedingly above all anyone ever imagined just 4½ years ago when CBC was officially born.  He reminded the Board that we now have 182 congregations on 3 continents, with about a third of the CBC Brethren speaking languages other than English. He read from 2 Timothy 1:8-14 and stressed that as long as the CBC holds fast to the Word and allows the Holy Spirit to lead, there’s no telling what God will do. He encouraged the Board not to be ashamed and to do what is necessary.  The Board expressed appreciation to Bros. Craig Alan and Stafford Frederick for their dedication and service to the Lord and CBC. Bro. Craig Alan then adjourned the meeting with prayer at 3:30 pm, after which Board members sang the Doxology before departing to head home.

The Executive Board continues to appreciate and invite the prayers of all members and congregations as it administers God’s grace in all its various forms through the Covenant Brethren Church.  May God continue to bless and guide us all.

Respectfully submitted, George Bowers, CBC Executive Board Secretary
