Praise God for five new CBC congregations! In addition to Pipe Creek in Union Bridge, MD, the other four are in the Dominican Republic. These are the first CBC congregations in that country! Praise God that CBC now has 157 congregations worldwide! The addition of these new brothers and sisters was the highlight of the November 11 Zoom meeting.
After Brother Scott Kinnick opened the meeting in prayer, the Board approved minutes from the October 18 and 19 meetings and the Treasurer’s Report. There was also an update on the transition to new CBC Treasurer Bro Carl Brubaker. As of December 1, all CBC donations and checks should be mailed to Bro Carl at PO Box 22, Lititz, PA 17543. In addition, congregations are encouraged to send all donations for Samaritan’s Purse to Bro Carl to be combined with other CBC gifts that he will then forward to the ministry. This will help demonstrate the combined efforts of CBC for Samaritan’s Purse.
Bro Jeremy Dykes shared an update on continuing disaster ministry to those impacted by flooding from Hurricane Helene. Bro John Swonger expressed thanks to everyone for prayers and gifts. They are reaching out to support individuals and families as needed and working on clean up. The prayers have sustained them and the love of Jesus has touched many people. Some have been saved and baptized as a result of this work. The area has been overwhelmed with supplies and they don’t need any more of those at this time but financial resources continue to be needed. Bro Scott shared his appreciation for Samaritan’s Purse and the great work they are doing as well.
The Board unanimously approved a recommendation from the Missions Committee to provide funds to assist Burundi CBC congregations in holding their regional conference. In other business, the Board discussed partnering with the Brethren Mission Fund on CBC efforts around the world. In addition, the CBC Ministry Training Plan was discussed as was a possible format for congregational reporting to national CBC. The Board also considered CBC Membership resources that should be available soon.
The Annual Meeting and Worship Conference Planning Committee shared updates including plans for a Pastoral Ethics presentation. Speaker possibilities and conference theme were discussed and will be announced soon.
After Chair, Bro Grover Duling, reminded Board members of the importance of Romans 13 and encouraged all believers to stand strong and push back against the enemy, Bro John Swonger closed the meeting in prayer praising God for His love and His guidance throughout CBC history and praying for all who are going through hard times. Praise God for His continued blessings on CBC and for His continued favor. Thank you for your prayers for the CBC Executive Board and please keep praying for us!
