When they had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this Child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.” Luke 2:17 NIV The Sunday before Christmas (12/22), Christmas Eve (12/24), and Christmas Day (12/25). Many of our congregations have special services & programs this week. And many people who are not close to the Lord may pass through our doors. This season is often a very “open door” time for the unchurched. Sometimes we can look down on these so-called “Easter & Christmas” attendees. No! Let us pray with thanksgiving for this opportunity to share Jesus! Pray that you may be a “shepherd-like” witness to proclaim Jesus to every dear one that the Lord brings you in contact with! Share the amazement! Sing: “Flocks were sleeping; shepherds keeping vigil till the morning new. Saw the glory, heard the story, tidings of a Gospel true. Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow, praises voicing, greet the morrow: Christ the Babe was born for you! Christ the Babe was born for you!” Please pray for the following congregations and pastors: Ngurumd Ya Ushindi Congregation in Tanzania, Africa and pastor Emmanuel [...]

And Mary said, ‘Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word” (Luke 1:38 KJV). Dear Mary, the mother of our Lord. Can you imagine the faith it took, upon this angel visitation, and the impossible-sounding proclamation, to say that she was the handmaid (servant) of the Lord? There is no better “Christmas Gift” we can offer to Jesus than to proclaim that we are His surrendered servant! Pray for yourself amid this busy & blessed season. May the Lord grant you peace when things are hectic. May He open your heart to the wonder of the Christmas story like a wide-eyed child. May He help you surrender completely to His will and His Word. May He lead you in the ministries of these Holy moments! Sing: “Tho’ an infant now we view Him, He will share His Father’s throne; Gather all the nations to Him; Every knee shall then bow down. Come and worship, come and worship; Worship Christ the newborn King.” Please pray for the following congregations and pastors: New Life congregation in Bridgewater, VA seeking pastoral leadership Newport congregation in Shenandoah, VA and pastor Duane Painter CBC Prayer Committee [...]

The Word became flesh and lived for a while among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14. (NIV) Jesus left all the glory of Heaven to live among us. Word became Flesh! Incarnation! Can you imagine all He gave up being with us as our Savior? Do you think He missed the Father and Glory? The beauty and special nature of Christmas can cause pain to be difficult for those who are separated from loved ones at Christmas. Missionaries? Service men & women? Those separated by distance. Those who are ill? Are those living through the first Christmas since the loss of a loved one? Those with a broken relationship in their family? Pray for the separated in the grief of the separation. Pray for God’s Presence to be very real to them! Is there someone you could reach out to be a blessing?” SING: “Christ by highest heaven adored, Christ the everlasting Lord! “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come , Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.” Revelation 22:20-21 NIV The last verse of our Bible. Early believers would often part with the word, “Maranatha!” which is an Aramaic word that means, “Come, O Lord.” As we begin the Season of Advent, which is a Latin word meaning “coming,” We remember the long wait of the Jews for their Messiah. Who or what are you “waiting” for this Christmas? Revival for our nation? God’s healing touch? Reconciliation? A friend or relative you haven’t seen in a while. Like a child waiting for Christmas morning, we wait eagerly. The Lord IS coming! Maranatha! Pray for those who wait! Sing: “O come, O come, Emmanuel, And ransom captive Israel, That mourns in lonely exile here, Until the Son of God appears. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel, shall come to thee O Israel!” Please pray for the following congregations and pastors: Moxham congregation in Johnstown, PA and pastor Daniel Rhodes Musanze congregation in Rwanda, Africa and pastor Dusabimana Jean Samson CBC Prayer Committee
