Greetings to all our members of the Covenant Brethren Church!
This letter is coming to you from the Stewards Committee of our denomination. One of the roles of our committee is to oversee the financial matters of our church to ensure that total integrity and transparency are attained. Another function is to periodically provide a picture of our current finances to our CBC family. We are so thankful that the Lord has blessed the work and ministry of the Covenant Brethren Church through you, the congregations and members of the church. To God be the glory!
We first want to say a hearty “Thank You” for your faithful giving. The members of the CBC have proven to be people committed to sharing their resources for the work of the church. Let us highlight a few figures which illustrate that attitude so far in 2026.
Celebration offering at the Annual Meeting – General Fund – $25,833
Other General Fund Giving through 9/15/26 – $121,149
Total General Fund Giving to 9/15/26 – $146,982
Mission Fund offering at Annual Meeting – $24,863
Other Mission Fund giving at AMWC – Quilts/ apple butter – $4,652
Other Undesignated Mission Fund giving plus mission tithe – $17,026
Total Undesignated Mission Fd giving to 9/15/26 – $46,451
Compared to the same time period of a year ago, giving to the General Fund is up 7% and giving plus the mission tithe to the Undesignated Mission Funds increased $ 28,840 in 2026 (due to MF Offering). Again, thank you for your faithful and generous support.
So, you ask, what are the funds being used for? First, let’s be clear about this. The Executive Board is not interested in just building up our bank balances. It is true, we have been blessed with these resources, but we are also responsible in using them in effective ways to advance the cause of Christ both here in America and in our international churches around the globe.
Secondly, allow us to share some of the projects where resources have been or will be expended. So far in 2026, the Executive Board has approved $ 24,800 for Church Planting projects. Some of these include, $ 6,500 for Faith CBC for building repairs to better serve the community and host the new Cristo la Roca church plant near Johnstown, PA, $ 5,500 for transportation and supplies for a Pastor Couple to assist in a new church plant in Guatemala (2 times). Transportation and travel expenses have been advanced to our Regional Elders in Africa and Venezuela as they explore church planting opportunities and support existing CBC congregations in their growth and helping them reach their communities with the gospel.
As of this date, a total of $ 29,550 has also been used from the Undesignated Mission Fund to support mission needs across the world. The Executive Board approved $ 5,000 for both Venezuela (earthquake victims) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (Ebola breakout) so the local CBC churches could assist their neighbors with food, medicines, and other humanitarian needs in these crisis areas. The two church building projects in Guatemala and in the Dominican Republic were each granted $ 3,000 recently to encourage and assist them in those projects. We have supported rental needs in Spain, a school in Puerto Rico, Bibles in Burundi, Tanzania, and Rwanda, and general mission support where needs come to our attention in our international regions and congregations. Each request is investigated by the Missions Committee with final approval coming from the Executive Board.
We anticipate continuing opportunities coming to our attention in the months and years ahead and through your generous giving and support, we are in a good position to be able to assist in meeting those needs. Of course, mission funds that congregations and individuals send to CBC that are designated for specific projects or countries, 100% of those funds go toward that designated fund. We continue a strong and vital relationship with Samaritan’s Purse as disaster funds are channeled through them to help the victims of floods, fire, earthquakes and tornadoes.
Again, we give God all the praise for what is happening in God’s Kingdom around the world through the Covenant Brethren Church. Thank you so much for your faithful and generous giving to His work. May the Lord bless each of you and your congregations as we seek to be wise and faithful stewards of all that God has entrusted to us.
