The CBC Executive Board met virtually on June 17th and processed several items of business. After approving minutes and reviewing the treasurer’s report, they welcomed the newest congregation to the CBC family by unanimously approving Greenmount (VA). The Board also approved ordination for Greenmount’s pastor, Bro Scott Harris, and welcomed in five new individual members.
Updates were shared on the rapidly approaching fourth Annual Meeting and Worship Conference (AMWC) to be held July 18-20 at the Chiques Church in Manheim, PA. The Board also unanimously approved a site and dates for the 2025 AMWC which will be announced at next month’s event.
Board Vice Chair, Bro Scott Kinnick gave an encouraging summary of his recent trip to visit CBC congregations in Africa and shared how God is working there in mighty ways. He reported that exciting things are happening in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania and that churches in other African nations are also showing interest in CBC. He was invited to preach 2-3 times each day and the CBC Statement of Faith continues to be a great tool that resonates with many Christians there. Bro Scott shared that the spiritual events in the DRC resemble what God did in the Book of Acts as many people are getting saved. We praise God for this best of all possible news! He also shared the great need for food in some particular African regions and the Board unanimously approved a gift of $1,000 to help meet this need and reevaluate later.
Progress was shared on recent events in the development of the Susquehanna CBC Region as well us updates on the Blue Ridge Region. After Board members reported on recent and upcoming congregational visits, the meeting was adjourned with prayer. All Executive Board members are praying for, and looking forward to, the Annual Meeting and Worship Conference in July! We hope to see you there!
Blessings, George Bowers, CBC Executive Board Secretary
