The CBC Executive Board met by Zoom on May 11 at 7pm. After Bro Carl Brubaker’s opening prayer and the approval of the Secretary’s minutes and Treasurer’s report, the first highlight of the meeting occurred when four new CBC congregations were unanimously approved! All four are in Venezuela and this brings total CBC congregations to 224 in 14 countries including the US! The Board also credentialed two new ministers for service in CBC. We praise God for His continued blessing on this young denomination!

Bro Scott Kinnick then shared updates from various congregations outside the US including the news that he will be traveling to visit CBC churches in Spain June 7-15. In addition, Bro Grover Duling indicated that Samaritan’s Purse has invited CBC to participate in a trip to Liberia in November to provide outreach to local churches there. The Board was also reminded to continue to pray for Bro Jean Samson in Rwanda who is recovering from a stroke and all of CBC is invited to pray with us for him.

The Board also reviewed the schedule for the Annual Meeting and Worship Conference (AMWC) scheduled for July 16-18 in Johnstown, PA. All CBC members are invited and encouraged to attend. While registration can be done in advance or at the door, discounted lodging is only available through June 14. Registration and room reservations can be made at www.covenantbrethren.org. The Board also asks all to pray that Pastor Lewis’ visa permit be approved so he can travel to the US to speak at the AMWC.

Requests from the CBC Missions Committee were approved including funds for the youth mission trip to Guatemala and for the purchase and distribution of Bibles, food and other pressing needs in Burundi.

Board members also reported on recent congregational visits as well as upcoming trips. The second highlight of the meeting occurred when Bro John Swonger shared a powerful testimony (AKA “Glory Story”) of how God worked to bring relief and healing to his body and rededication to some of his medical team! The Board praised God for His mighty work! Following the testimony, the date was set for the June meeting and Bro Jose Acevedo closed in prayer praising God for His presence and for the miracle He performed in Bro John’s life. He also thanked God for sheltering us under His wings.

The Executive Board thanks each member and congregation for your faithful prayers and we ask that you continue to lift us up as we seek to do God’s will in the Covenant Brethren Church.
