I like to think big.  I want to step back, look at the big picture, and make big plans.

Thinking big is important in our lives, careers, families, friendships, and churches. In the church, it is encouraging to witness significant growth and an increasing number of members joining the Covenant Brethren Church family.

Thinking big has its time and place in the church, but sometimes, we want to focus only on the big things and neglect the little things. The little things in God’s Kingdom can often become some of the most important.

In Matthew chapter 13, Jesus gives us the parable of the mustard seed, which is the smallest of seeds but has become one of the largest plants in the garden.

Jesus told his disciples to let the little children come to him.

Jesus stopped in a massive crowd and healed a woman who just touched his cloak.

Jesus used the lunch of one little boy to feed 5000.

I think it is safe to say that what we often consider the little things are not so little to Jesus.

A few years ago, I was asked to do a bible study for a group of junior high youth.  The advisor thanked me afterward for being willing to teach when I normally am doing more important things in the church.  I believe leading a group of junior high students is one of the most important things our church does.

We should never think we are so important that we should only do big things.  The apostle Paul said, “I will boast in Christ alone.”

What little things is God putting in your path?  Calling or visiting a shut-in person? Helping with Children’s Church?  Going on a work project?  Being a greeter?  Helping to mulch the flower beds at church?  Making a meal for someone?

Matthew 10:42,(NIV), “and if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”

Nothing is too little if we do it for Jesus.
