The Executive Board of Covenant Brethren Church held their monthly meeting by Zoom on June 9 with all members present. Bro Larry Dentler opened the meeting with prayer followed by the approval of the secretary’s minutes and treasurer’s report.
The highlight of the meeting saw the approval of five new CBC congregations including one in Tennessee, three in Uganda, and our first one in Panama! This brings total CBC congregations to 187 scattered throughout 3 continents and 10 nations! One individual was approved for ordination and three others were licensed bringing total ministers credentialed to 209. Praise God for His continual work in raising up ministers and adding new congregations!
Board Chair Grover Duling gave the Board an update on plans for the Annual Meeting and Worship Conference to be held July 17-19 in Greensboro, NC. (Register now by going to https://covenantbrethren.org/amwc/)
Bro Scott Kinnick informed the Board about CBC congregations in Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania. A CBC meetinghouse is being built in Tanzania to secure official government registration for CBC in that country. He also shared that things are difficult for CBC members in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Board approved funding for food for our brothers and sisters there. Please pray for their peace, protection, and provision.
Bro Scott also shared that a Revival is underway in Venezuela! Venezuelan pastor, Bro Humberto, has been traveling to neighboring congregations as well as into Columbia. The Board approved funding to reimburse some of his travel expenses. CBC has received inquiries from congregations in Columbia as well as Ecuador, India, and Malawi. Pray for wisdom and God’s leading in all of these situations.
The Board also approved funding to continue to develop the Ministry Training Program and heard updates from Board members regarding recent church visits within the US. After setting the next meeting date, Bro George Bowers closed the meeting in prayer lifting up the CBC Youth Mission Team in Puerto Rico and Bros Scott and Grover who left two days after the meeting to visit with interested church leaders in Madrid, Spain.
The Executive Board thanks all members for their prayers and looks forward to seeing everyone at the Annual Meeting and Worship Conference next month in North Carolina!
