On August 10, a team from CBC and other organizations traveled to the Covenant Brethren Miracle Fishing Church in Guatemala.. They were there to celebrate 2 years of this church becoming a CBC member congregation. It was a day filled with excitement, prayers, music, and joy.
The team was given a tour of the work that is being done on the new building that the church is in desperate need of. On this Sunday, the congregation overflowed their present facility by about 50 people who had to sit outside of the church’s sanctuary.

With that need in mind, the team laid hands on the rebar at the construction site and prayed for God to provide the resources needed to finish the project.

Although construction costs in Guatemala are lower than in the U.S., they are still not considered cheap. The average cost of construction in Guatemala is approximately $66 per square foot, which is significantly less than the over $125 per square foot typically found in the U.S. However, this price can still accumulate to a substantial total. The team presented the church with a check for $2000 that had been sent in from around the denomination. It was greatly appreciated because they are choosing not to borrow but build as they have the funds.
During the service and celebration, Grover gave the church two symbols of bearing fruit for Jesus that were shared at the Annual Meeting and Worship Conference: a foam apple. He then challenged them with a message from Matthew 25, the Charity chapter, and 28, the Great Commission, and talked about where we go from here as we move forward together with Christ.

As part of the celebration, several of the young girls came forward and did a tasteful dance in white flowing gowns to celebrate the joy of the Lord and his provision. This was made up of girls of all ages, and the ministry they brought filled the house with smiles and blessings.
An invitation was given to anyone who would like to be prayed for. Many people came forward, and the team prayed for the needs of all who came.
In the end, a tearful Pastor Walter grabbed Grover and hugged him, thanking him for pastoring him and offering such encouragement.

The day was concluded with a celebratory cake, fellowship, and laughter that came from experiencing the wonder of all of us being part of God’s amazing family.

If you or your church would like to participate in this incredible work happening in Guatemala, you can contribute by donating the cost of building a square foot or more. As stated earlier, the cost is $66 per square foot; however, any amount would be appreciated. You can send it directly to:
