The Executive Board of the Covenant Brethren Church met via Zoom at 8pm on December 15. The highlight of the meeting was not only the addition of another new CBC congregation, but the addition of another new CBC country! The Executive Board unanimously approved the Misión Evangélica Pentecostes Ejército de Jehova congregation in Ecuador which is the first for that nation! Two individuals were also approved for licensing bringing total CBC congregations to 218 in 14 countries including the US and 223 credentialed US ministers pending final CEU completion and reporting.
In other business, the minutes and treasurer’s report were considered and approved following the opening prayer. Bros Scott Kinnick and Grover Duling reported on their recent visit to our CBC congregations in Spain and were encouraged by what God is doing there! Bro Scott also provided updates on other international CBC congregations. The CBC leaders in Malawi are submitting their registration materials for the denomination to the government for approval so please pray for God’s favor as this is considered.
A paper on Pastoral Ethics was officially approved and will be added to CBC ministers’ manuals and the Board also approved continuation of CBC support for utilities at the Belen School in Puerto Rico. The Board also heard an update on Samaritan’s Purse work in Washington State following severe flooding.
The Board was encouraged to remind all congregations and regions to forward any new members in their congregations whether by baptism or transfer, to Bro George Bowers or to Sister Christy Cosner to be included with CBC devotionals on the first Monday of each month. After a report of recent congregational visits, Bro Craig Alan Myers closed the meeting with prayer praising God for His work in CBC and inviting His continued blessings and guidance in the New Year.
