The Executive Board of the Covenant Brethren Church met by Zoom on February 23 at 7:00pm with all members present. After Bro Jon Prater led the opening prayer, the Secretary’s minutes and Treasurer’s report were approved. Bro Carl Brubaker shared the statement from the CPA that conducted a Financial Review of CBC funds and indicated that all was in proper order with no findings or concerns.
Two new individuals were approved for ordination and an individual member was added. The Ministerial Leadership Committee also presented a working draft that outlines credentialing processes with a final version expected for approval at the April meeting. Bro Jon Prater also provided the Board with an update on nominations for the Executive Board.
One of the highlights of every meeting occurs when Bro Scott Kinnick shares updates on CBC congregations outside the United States and this meeting was no exception. Church leaders in Malawi have submitted registration forms for official government recognition and another congregation may be forming there. Bro Scott also shared that Pastor Samson is helping to build a church in Uganda and that all is going well. The Board approved a two-month gift to help a sister congregation pay for rent that had nearly doubled and another contribution for a new church plant in Guatemala. Board members were encouraged to pray for God’s favor for Pastor Lewis to receive a visa to travel to the US to speak at this year’s Annual Meeting and Worship Conference (AMWC).
Board Chair, Bro Grover Duling shared a report on his recent mission trip to Guatemala and an update on plans for the AMWC. Registration information will soon be available. An update was also presented on the Ministry Training Plan as progress continues on various courses to provide training for CBC pastors, and work is also underway to provide these training courses in Spanish.
Following updates on visits to congregations, the date for the next meeting was set and Bro George Bowers closed the meeting in prayer thanking God for His presence and guidance and inviting His continued blessing on the Covenant Brethren Church. All CBC members and congregations are encouraged to pray regularly for your Executive Board as it processes many items of business to advance Christ’s Kingdom on this earth.
