Weekly Prayer Point

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV In this new year, who will come to saving faith in Christ? Pray very specifically this week for persons you know who need to know Jesus. Family, friends, co-workers, neighbors. Ask the Lord to bring them to Himself this year and make them new. Ask the Lord to allow you to be part of that process. What new beginnings are you seeking? A new Bible reading commitment? A new pattern/practice of prayer? A new service opportunity? A new role in the church? John 13:15-16 Merry Christmas brothers and sisters. Let us give prayers of thankfulness to God who sent His Son to us for our salvation. Because of our faith in Jesus, we can serve Him acceptably in our daily lives. He told us and showed us that obedient service is a result and evidence of our faith in Him. Matthew 26:10-13 To say the obvious, this is the week before Christmas. A time of last-minute shopping. This is the time to pray for those we especially love, family, and friends. Most of all let us pray for our relationship with Jesus Christ. Ephesians 6:5-8 This week the CBC Mission/Outreach/Disaster Support Committee has scheduled a work week with Samaritan’s Purse in the area hit by hurricane Ian in Florida. Let’s pray for safety in travel and on the work sites. Pray especially for people’s hearts and minds to be open to serve others as God leads. Matthew 9:37-38 Brothers and sisters, here we are. It is the first full week of the last month of 2022. This would be a good time to pray about our service to Jesus Christ and others over the past year. Let us not anguish over what could have been, but let us look forward to what might be thru the strength and acceptance of the Holy Spirit’s leading. Luke 2:30-32 This is the first week of traditional Christmas shopping madness. Let us pray that parents, as well as children, remember that the focus of this season is Jesus Christ and not the gifts we give or hope to receive. The acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Savior is the greatest gift we can receive. “Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.” Psalm 103:2-5 (NKJV) It’s easy to think of material blessings, and we should thank God for them. The most important blessings are spiritual. Take time, especially this week, to thank the Lord for our spiritual blessings as well.
