“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” Ephesians 6:16-17 Praise the Lord God Almighty who has the power to save us from our sin and protect us from the evil one. Thank God for equipping us with His powerful weapon against temptation and attacks from the evil one – The Word of God which is “alive and active and sharper than any double-edge sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of our hearts.” (Hebrews 4:12) Pray for “God’s power to be made perfect in our weakness” (1 Corinthians 12) by guarding our hearts from temptation and evil and helping us to stand strong in faith and obedience to our Heavenly Father as we seek to do His perfect will. “Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” Ephesians 6:13-15 Praise The Lord Most High for His truth and righteousness that, with the help of The Holy Spirit, we see woven throughout His Word and in His creation. Thank God, for His grace through the blood of Jesus Christ which covers us with His righteousness. Pray for God to open our eyes to discern His truth and to remember to lean on His immeasurable power so we can stand firm on His truth and to “always be ready to boldly share the Gospel of peace with others giving them the reason for the hope we have in Christ Jesus.” 1 Peter 3:15 Please pray for these congregations and pastors: Jordan Run Congregation in Maysville WV and Pastor Chaz Steiner Joyful Congregation in Garrett, PA and Pastor Timothy Vaughn CBC Prayer Committee [...]

”Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:10-12 Let us praise God for His awesome and mighty power and thank Him for providing us with powerful tools to stand firm in our faith as we face spiritual struggles. Pray that we never forget or doubt that our Heavenly Father is fully in control and capable of fighting our battles no matter how big or small and help us to stand strong and be as faithful and fearless as David who took five little stones and trusted God to conquer the Giant in his life. Through a class I am taking from the Lee Strobel Institute, the myopic view of his sin that Adam had was pointed out when God called to him in the garden after Adam sinned. Of all the sins Adam could have confessed, the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life; Adam answered, “I was naked and ashamed and hid myself.” Adam could have seen so much more but he was focused on that immediate sin. God’s response was to cover his sin by the shedding of blood, which directed Adam to a prophetic covering to come. Let us pray for the LGBTQIA+ community. Let us pray in the manner of our Lord for all those who are suffering in sin. Let us pray that our eyes will be open to see the sacrifice for our sins, not just focused on one single sin that is magnified in our eyes. Father, help us to love in the same manner as you have loved! Help us to cover our brothers and sisters and to apply your precious blood to our hearts. One Sunday before Christmas, our pastor was preaching about that glorious day of the dedication of Solomon’s Temple when the fire fell and the priests could not stand to minister to the people. I was overwhelmed with desire for us to experience this Glory of the Lord in our church! When he began to quote in that chapter, 2 Chronicles, 7:14, my heart leapt within me. Our Father is addressing His people…His Israel and now His Church. Oh Church, if we will humble ourselves and pray, and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, then He will hear from Heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land… the church! This is the way for us to be affective for Him in these days and to allow His Glory to fill the church so that the world will run to Him! Consider the following quote from C S Lewis: “An ordinary simple Christian kneels down to say his prayers. He is trying to get in touch with God. But if he is a Christian, he knows that what is prompting him to pray is also God: God, so to speak, inside him. But he also knows that all his real knowledge of God, comes through Christ, the man who was God - that Christ is standing beside him, helping him to pray, praying for him. You see what is happening. God is the thing to which he is praying - the goal he is trying to reach. God is also the thing inside him which is pushing him on - the motive power. God is also the road or bridge along which he is being pushed to that goal. So that the whole threefold life of the three-personal Being is actually going on in that ordinary little bedroom where an ordinary man is saying his prayers.” 1 John 5:14-15 – “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, [...]

“See, I am doing a new thing!” Isaiah 43:19 NIV The Lord instructed Israel, through the prophet Isaiah, to watch for the new thing he was doing for them. Two years ago, who could have imagined where the Covenant Brethren Church would be today?! In this new year there are many new unfolding plans for CBC. Pray for the Executive Board and all Committee members as they work diligently on new initiatives for our young denomination.
