Weekly Prayer Points

As the weather warms, we enter a season of preparation and planting. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal the urgency of this season. We are to be Christ’s witness throughout every season. Before the seed of the Gospel is sown, hearts need to be prepared to receive the good news of Christ. Let us pray for divine appointments and that we will be ready in season and out to share Christ with our world. “And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” Mark 16:15 (NKJV). “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” I Peter 2: 9 (NKJV). As we walk with the Lord through the various seasons of His creation, we become aware of the challenges each season brings. These seasons are intended to be times of testing, spiritual growth, and experiences that shape us into who we are meant to be. “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity in their hearts….” Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV). “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” II Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV). Heavenly Father, as we experience the changes and challenges each season brings, may we be reminded that in every season Your righteous purpose is being accomplished. Amen. The cold of winter is gone, and the color and glow of spring have come. The Bible has much to tell us about seasons and time. As individuals, congregations, and a young denomination, may the Holy Spirit remind us that God is never early nor late. Our anxiousness will not accelerate God’s time. Shall we trust the seasons of life to the Creator of time? Waiting is not evidence of God’s absence, but God’s process of conforming and preparing us for what lies ahead. “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!” Psalm 27:14 ( NKJV). “For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly” Romans 5:6 (NKJV). Heavenly Father, as we are bound and limited by time until that glorious moment we step out of time into eternity, may we be faithful in trusting You for Your perfect time. Amen! One of the vital responsibilities of the Church is the calling, training, and placing of pastors. Pray for the CBC national and regional leaders who do this work. Pray for congregations seeking pastors. Pray for persons sensing a call to ministry. Pray for teachers in our CBC ministry training program. "Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it." Psalm 34:14 (NIV). The ongoing war in the Middle East is so troubling. We understand this conflict has been foretold, yet it remains distressing. Pray for our President and national leaders as decisions are made. Pray for all world leaders to desire peace. Pray for those who serve in the military and find themselves in harm’s way. Our Brethren roots emphasize that we are a community of peaceful people. In our conversations with those with whom we disagree, across kitchen tables, backyard fences, with church family, friends, and strangers – let us seek peace and pursue it! "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations…." Matthew 28:19 (NIV). CBC currently has congregations in 15 countries. This is an impressive statistic for our fellowship, which is only 5 years old. Many believers have approached us after seeing the CBC Statement of Faith on our website. As congregations are developed, we seek to discern a leader to call as a Regional Elder. Brother Scott Kinnick is our Liaison with the international churches. Pray for the Sisters & Brothers in these places. Pray for the Regional Elders who oversee this work. Pray for Brother Scott in his connections with these churches. Ask the Lord to keep our hearts tuned to the Great Commission. “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” Luke 24:5 (NIV). We begin this week with our glorious celebration of our Lord’s Resurrection! Perhaps there were folks with your church for Easter worship who were new, or who do not attend regularly. Pray for these folks specifically that being with the church for Resurrection Sunday may make a significant impact and lead them to a new and deeper walk with Christ. Pray for your congregations, your Regions, and the CBC’s efforts to win the lost to Jesus. It is our highest calling! The CBC Executive Board meets at our national office in Fairmont, WV, on Friday and Saturday for our Spring face-to-face meetings. Pray for the Holy Spirit to clearly guide these meetings. Pray for God to bless all CBC Congregations with rich and special times of worship on Resurrection Sunday. May His Holy Spirit help us to celebrate Jesus’ victory over death, Hell, and the grave, and may it produce the fruit of salvation with many individuals getting saved.
