Luke 1:39-56. This is the “Song of Mary.” Mary has received a visit from the angel Gabriel. She then travels to be with Elizabeth, a relative.  She speaks of the greatness of God as well as His strength, wisdom, service to the lowly, and mercy.  Pray that we also might speak of God’s greatness as well as His strength, mercy, and wisdom and let us, like Jesus, serve the lowly in love. The Prophet Isaiah tells of the coming of an individual who will have the “Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him.” We read in part. Isaiah 11:1-10. (KJV) “There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse….” The world and even the Gentiles will know the power of our God. Heavenly Father, we praise You for Your love and grace that unites us as "we are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with (Your) people and also members of (Your) household." Ephesians 2:19(NIV).Thank You for all the churches who have and will join the ranks of The Covenant Brethren Church. We pray for the "Sister to Sister" prayer initiative to grow and flourish in Jesus' name. We are grateful for the churches and individuals who have committed to pray for sister churches, and we ask You to establish, bless, and nurture these friendships. Heavenly Father, we praise You for being our Supreme Leader and Commander-in-Chief. We pray for wisdom and guidance for our local and national leaders. We pray for them to humble themselves, seek You, and follow Your will. Surround them with wise and Godly counsel and keep them from evil. Help them to defend the needy and empower them to lead with skill, ability, compassion, justice, and integrity. Heavenly Father, we praise You and acknowledge that You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, whose kingdom will never end and Who reigns with all wisdom, authority, and power. Thank You for the Godly leaders that you have raised up in our national history and for those who are currently serving. We pray for Godly wisdom as we cast our votes and that you would appoint local and state leaders of Your choosing. In these times in which we live, let us rejoice in the goodness, wisdom, and purposes of God, who is eternal and not bound by time, having placed us into time right where we belong --- "for such as a time as this"! Let us PRAISE God for the gift of the Holy Spirit as we bear witness to Christ’s Lordship. We rejoice in the opportunity of today to be Your witness. Father, remind us that you are a God of order and purpose! That with the passing of every moment, You are accomplishing Your holy and righteous will. May Your life, light, love, hope, joy, and forgiveness be seen in the Body of Christ.
