The Executive Board of the Covenant Brethren Church met by Zoom on June 16th at 7:00pm. After the opening prayer, the Secretary’s minutes and the Treasurer’s report were both approved. Bro Brian Shively was officially approved as the Assistant Treasurer for CBC.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the approval of a new congregation. The Kabamkendi-Kibaale congregation in Uganda with Pastor Musinguzi John was unanimously approved to bring total CBC congregations to 225 in 14 countries including the US. One minister was approved for ordination and two others were officially licensed by CBC.
Bro Scott Kinnick reported on several international CBC congregations including an update on his recent trip to Spain. The Board was encouraged to hear of Bro Samson’s recovery but disappointed that Bro Lewis was denied a visa to speak at the Annual Meeting and Worship Conference due to the Ebola outbreak. The Board also approved money for continued work in various foreign countries where it is most needed and also OK’d funds to purchase cameras to be used in the CBC Ministry Training Program for Spanish speakers.
Another highlight of the meeting occurred with the report of the Annual Meeting and Worship Conference Program Planning and Arrangements Committee. Final details were shared and discussed and the Board was excited to hear that all rooms at the Holiday Inn were completely booked! In addition, the Board approved a motion to invite Bro Jose Calleja Otero of Puerto Rico to preach in place of Bro Lewis.
Updates were also shared on the Ministry Training Program as well as recent congregational visits and other CBC outreaches. The meeting adjourned in prayer as the Board looked forward to the Annual Meeting and Worship Conference.
Submitted by Bro George Bowers, Secretary of the CBC Executive Board.
